About the event
The Tree Ambassador Program is a two-year initiative developed in partnership with The Morton Arboretum and the City of Chicago Department of Environment, with a mental health education component contributed by Dreamchasers United that connects tree canopy to community well-being, drawing on research linking neighborhood tree cover to reduced psychological distress, lower rates of depression, and improved attention and stress recovery. The program trains and mobilizes community volunteers as advocates for tree planting, care, and preservation, using the City of Chicago's 311 Tree Request system to identify, request, and track new plantings across target neighborhoods, beginning in North Lawndale.
